Acrimonium is the eighth studio album release from Trig Jegman. Production of the album began in October of 2024, with a release date of January 22, 2025. One single was released for the album, the opening track Helium Gusts.
A concept album, Acrimomium loosely features the noble gasses within the periodic table of elements. Stylistically, this album also was designed to be fully electronic: A high focus on tape loops, synthesizers, samples, and repetitive grooves compile most of the arrangements.
01 — Helium Gusts
Helium Gusts is the opening track, and unlike the rest of the album features a sparse arrangement and ambient tone. This is the first song that primarily features Trig Jegman on guitar, playing haunting melodic lines and deeper bass with heavy distortion effects. Light synths help the track swell into a dramatic point, setting up for the intensity of the rest of the album.
02 — Neon Metropolis
Neon Metropolis is a latin-inspired track, hoping to capture a slice of night-life full of neon signs and vibrant energy, just a like a standard metropolis would have. It turns out mixing with a clave will be an EQ torture-fest.
03 — Argon Outskirts
Argon Outskirts is the longest track off the album, and features a significant use of tape loops. Structurally, the piece is written like a song from the Pikmin series of games, with various elements intending to fade in and out based on their proximity to certain objects or tasks. They then converge with all loops playing simultaneously. Hypnotic percussion and lighter arrangement completes the rest of the theme.
04 — Krypton Rails
The fourth track, Krpyton Rails, features a drum track comprised of mostly samples, like electric guitars and and piano. The B-sections are reminiscent of time spent on late-night train rides in Berlin, and has a driving tempo to cover more American-style driving.
05 — Xenon Depths
This is the first track written for the album, and mostly focuses on the synopated synth-piano chord structure behind it and fluttery guitar. Rich synthesizers make up the rest of the work, for an ultimately groovy dance-like track.
06 — Radon Antechambers
The track written last for the album, Radon Antechambers is a dark synth track, with a repetitive bass line and a gorgeous melody using Mellotrons. The middle of the track features a dramatic swell from the use of about 12 different ambient pad sounds. The bass guitar on this is played by Trig Jegman live.
07 — Oganesson Sewers
Much more percussive than the rest of the album, the closing track is almost entirely comprised of percussion and bell tones: Dark, brooding church bells and stream engine sounds over gongs and shrieking steel pads give the impression that the listener is further away from home than ever before, just like the final element in the set.
