Fire is a single released by Trig Jegman on March 19, 2024. Unlike most other previous works, which are decidedly more instrumental, this was deliberately written to be a commerical post-punk, rock adjacent song. Something that could hypothetically be heard over the radio. Lyrics have never been a particularly strong point, and something that had been generally avoided due to concerns of sounding immature, cringey, or being ineffective at getting a point across. While everyone's gotta start somewhere, the final product still needs to be better than bottom of the barrel. This ended up being pretty good, though, so it seems like the concerns were for nothing.
Lyrically, this work can be boiled down to "I hate my ex girlfriend", or at least broadly speaks about seeing the end of a relationship before it actually has finished. Something experimented with was the idea of an expanding chorus, where every time it happens a new section is added over time. This ended up working out really well, and its not as noticable as it sounds. The bridge is admittedly a favorite in writing. It is also in reference to a concept that it is a good thing that fire burns within the visible light spectrum. If fire was invisible to perception, it would cause a lot more problems than it already does.
This was certainly a vocal challenge to execute.
The B-side on streaming services is a re-release of πe, an extended ambience piece. More information can be found about this work on the πe page.

You know you'd do anything for this
To feel free from it all
Feel free and fly away
I can see the end of the horizon
The time is up for me
The death of now approaching
The birth of history
How fortunate that we can see fire
Quiet
Silence
And hope you remember the sembelence
of love
and dreams
Even though we broke apart it seems
Now I'm free from it all
Feel free and flown away
I can see the end of the horizon
The time is up for me
The death of now approaching
The birth of history
I can see the end of days
Where everything will still go on
To think that it would end here
On my own
How fortunate that we can see fire
How fortunate that we can see fire
And it's been minutes, hours, days, weeks
And yet we still have this chance to speak into
years, decades, centuries
There was no way out for you or me
and how fortunate that we can see fire
I can see the end of the horizon
The time is up for me
The death of now approaching
The birth of history
I can see the end of days
Where everything will still go on
To think it would end here
On my own
I thought it might've meant something
When you begged me not to go
Or was it me begging you
I don't care, I don't know
